I never read about Laura Mercier lip pencils on other blogs, but I found out about this shade in a seriously old Pixiwoo tutorial (I’m talking 2011) and absolutely loved the colour. Also £12.50 here.Ī slightly more neutral, wearable shade in my collection is the Laura Mercier Plumberry Anti-Feathering Lip Pencil. It has a slightly chalkier texture than Cherry, so a lip balm applied 10 minutes before your liner and lipstick will help with a smooth colour transfer. This looks beautiful on it’s own or paired with a neutral, matte eye. This is a beautiful purple-red, that adds dimension to deep reds like MAC’s Viva Glam I, or intensifies a mauve-berry lipstick like Charlotte Tilbury’s Bond Girl.

This is the only pencil I use for a statement red lip, as I just think it’s the best one – a true makeup bag staple for lipstick lovers. I find this to be quite soft and blendable, which is rare for a MAC lip pencil. MAC’s Ruby Woo is the perfect lipstick match to pair with this liner, and this combination is an absolute blogger and Youtube favourite. Cherry is an iconic, Hollywood red – slightly blue-toned which brightens your teeth, and incredibly vibrant and striking. Below are six of my favourite shades, ranging from cool pinks to deep berries, that all last for ages and help to create a perfect pout, no matter the natural shape or condition of your lips.įirst is MAC’s Cherry lipliner. I’m firmly on the lipliner bandwagon, as they come in a multitude of shades, are fab for a long-wearing matte lip look, and they really help to define and enhance the natural shape of your lips. Lipliners and lip pencils are having a moment, thanks to a certain Miss Kylie Jenner, and whilst I’m a little tired of her constant appearance on my Instagram feed showing off those humongous lips, you can’t deny that she is both a huge influence on current makeup trends, and a brilliant saleswoman – MAC have been out of stock of Whirl, Subculture, Stone, Boldly Bare and other Jenner-esque shades for months now. Have you tried any of these beautiful liners? What are your favourite products from MAC that you think I should try next? Let me know in the comments below! You can buy all of these shades here for £12.50. The formula is slightly drying compared to the other four, but I counteract this by prepping my lips with a balm and then blotting with some translucent powder. It’s a gorgeous mauve shade that adds volume, depth and a subtle plumping effect that is seriously beautiful. I’ve been through five or so pencils and my previous one was the size of a toothpick, so having a fresh one in my stocks is a rather reassuring feeling. I’ve worn Whirl since I was in my first year of University, when a friend recommended using liner as a lipstick – one night out later, and I was completely hooked.
It’s amazing all over the lip with a light gloss on top, and pairs beautifully with MAC’s Brave for a 90s-esque neutral yet polished look. This has a semi-creamy consistency and is beautiful all over the lip for an ultra-dark 90s nude.ĭervish – this is a vibrant pink-nude and very similar in colour to Charlotte Tilbury’s Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk, except Dervish has more mauve tones.

Hover – the brownest of the bunch, Hover is a great neutral for deep skin tones and a nice shade to use if you’re rocking a dark lip but want to add some texture, or a slight ombre effect. Read my review of Bare It All and five other shades here. So far I’ve enjoyed wearing it with my Wet N Wild MegaLast Lip Colour in Bare It All (an amazing drugstore dupe for MAC’s Honey Love). It’s lighter than my natural lip colour, but it’s such a pretty beige-taupe I can’t help but try to make it work! It’s very smooth, opaque and easy to apply, and would look lovely on super-pale skin. Subculture – Subculture is the one shade I have a little trouble wearing. This would be a stunning shade for all skin colours. This doesn’t dry my lips out at all and is the most opaque of the five shades I picked up. Soar – a deep, super-creamy mauve-brown, I adore Sore for over-drawing my lips and making them the centre of attention. Without further ado, here are the ones I bought!
We have both been long-standing wearers of Whirl for years, and when the MAC website decided to restock ALL of their most coveted shades, we ran to our laptops and made an order. As my mum succinctly put it: ‘I don’t care about some silly 17-year-old, I need my lipliner!’ – Shelley, truer words have never been spoken. Kylie Jenner pandemonium has engulfed the globe, leading to a complete wipe out of MAC stocks, and I for one have not been happy about it. By now, you all probably know about the hype surrounding a bunch of MAC lipliner shades.
